The Cancer Journeys Foundation Honors American Servicemen and Women on Memorial Day 2018 with Inaugural Walk Along the Beach

May 25, 2018 – – MANHATTAN BEACH CALIFORINIA (PressAdvantage) May 27, 2018. Manhattan Beach resident and Cancer Journeys Foundation President Robert Hess, himself a Vietnam War veteran, announced today that the Cancer Journeys Foundation will honor America’s servicemen and women with a walk along the beach on Memorial Day, Monday, May 28, 2018. Anyone wishing to participate can meet at the Manhattan Beach pier at 8 am.

“As a Vietnam veteran, I experienced first hand the bravery and sacrifices made by America’s servicemen and women in defending freedom around the world. Memorial Day is a special day among American holidays and I’m honored to be launching a Memorial Day tradition here in Manhattan Beach,” said Hess.

Since their founding, 42 million Americans have served in the military during wartime and about 1.2 million gave their lives to preserve democracy and human rights.

The Agent Orange defoliant used in Vietnam during the war is a direct causal agent for a number of cancers. Veterans who develop respiratory cancer (lung, bronchus, larynx, or trachea) and were exposed to Agent Orange or other herbicides during military service do not have to prove a connection between their disease and service to be eligible to receive VA health care and disability compensation. Prostate cancer also is a presumptive result of Agent Orange exposure.

“I would like to thank USAA for creating a wonderful video memorial for our veterans,” said Hess. Click here to view the USAA video.

In honor of our veterans, the Cancer Journeys Foundation 2018 Tour de USA will stop at veteran cemeteries along the route to honor America’s veterans.

The Cancer Journeys Foundation Tour de USA for Prostate Cancer is a 36-day, cross-America, world record attempt car rally to raise men’s awareness about prostate cancer risk and to provide a simple prostate cancer risk tool.

The Cancer Journeys Foundation provides a comprehensive digital information center for cancer survivors, their families, and caregivers. The Foundation is developing a nationwide network of walking programs to support America’s 15 million cancer survivors in their journeys.
