Troubleshooting Steps For Your Home Air Conditioning If It Goes Out
Being able to diagnosis the home’s air conditioning problem before a technician comes out could save thousands of dollars immediately for the homeowner.
Glendale Heights, United States – June 12, 2018 /PressCable/ —
When a homeowner’s air conditioning goes out in the middle of summer, it can cause a wave of panic for everyone in the home. In Chicagoland, summer’s can be a hard to handle. Sometimes, homeowners spend hundreds of dollars just to get an HVAC technician to come out and give the home an inspection. According to DC Air Heating & Cooling, LLC, before getting a technician to come to the home, try using some of these troubleshooting steps to see about diagnosing the problem:
1. Check the settings on your thermostat. Make sure the temperature control selector is set below the current room temperature, and the system switch is on the COOL or AUTO position. The fan switch should be set to ON for continuous airflow or AUTO if you want the blower to operate only while the air conditioner is operating.
2. Try to get the air conditioner to turn on by lowering the thermostat to its lowest temperature setting.
3. If the air flow out of your registers seems low, check the air filter. An extremely dirty air filter can block air flow.
4. Make sure all registers are open and not obstructed.
5. Check the power disconnect switch by each unit (outdoor and indoor).
6. Check the fuse/breaker at the electrical panel for both the outdoor and indoor unit.
7. If the problem persists, please call us.
Unfortunately, if the troubleshooting steps that are taken can’t diagnosis or fix the problem, then an HVAC technician should be called to the home to take a look at the problem. Having that inspection could save thousands of dollars in future costs and repairs if minor maintenance is done now.
