ServiceMaster by Zaba Expands Community Outreach Through Adopt a Block Program
SMBZ co-founders and staff expand their commitment to the Skokie community as they join local efforts to beautify the village block by block.

Skokie’s Adopt a Block Program adds another enthusiastic team of helping hands to its activities. ServiceMaster Restoration by Zaba (SMBZ) has signed on to pitch in and pick up litter along their adopted block of Howard Street. SMBZ co-founder Diana Rodriguez-Zaba expressed her company’s gratitude for the opportunity to give back to the community.
“It’s easy to talk about being a good corporate citizen, but the real satisfaction comes from knowing you’ve made a positive difference. We’re really excited to be a part of this valuable program for our community.” Diana and her crew join other businesses and organizations across the village in supporting Skokie’s Green Initiative.
SMBZ proudly takes responsibility for keeping Howard Street looking its best from Crawford Avenue to McCormick Boulevard. Diana notes, “This stretch serves different industrial sites, so it stays busy. We want to ensure Howard Street reflects the pride we all take in our community.”
As SMBZ co-founders, Diana and her husband Neil have established a strong track record for community involvement over the years. They make regular donations to the Niles Food Pantry and joined other area businesses in celebrating the organization’s recent opening of its renovated Niles Township Food Pantry. Diana and Neil also contribute to local youth education by supporting the Miracle Center of Chicago’s performing arts program.
Diana especially enjoys her role as a businesswoman mentoring teen girls through Chicago’s chapter of the national Step Up Program. “I feel lucky to be able to share my experiences with young girls who want to own their own businesses someday. This project is very important to me on a personal level.”
When they relax with family and friends at home, Diana and Neil often reflect on the rewards of giving back to the surrounding community. Diana summed up their feelings. “This is our home. The residents here in Skokie have supported us for so many years. It’s a privilege to be able to return a small part of that spirit and good will.”
