London X City Reports On Sugar Tax In The UK

September 27, 2018 – – London X City, an online magazine serving the people of London, UK, has announced that they have just published an article on sugar tax in the UK. This has to do with the tax imposed by the UK Government in April 2018 on sugar-sweetened drinks. With that move, the UK Government followed the example of several countries that wanted to discourage people from drinking sugar-sweetened drinks as a way to reduce incidences of obesity. Studies have shown that the sugar found in such drinks is easily absorbed by the body, thus flooding the bloodstream with sugar that in turn causes the pancreas to be overworked and this could result into type 2 diabetes.

Chloe from London X City says, “The possibility of all this lies in the arms of increasing the VAT surcharged on sugary drinks in order to discourage users. It should also be noted that flat value-added tax does not sound reasonably well as many deem it a government exploitation hence the Government of United Kingdom could not go by this option but rather charge manufacturers basing on the extra amount of sugar per litre of drink. This was made possible by setting a maximum allowed sugar concentration which is 5 grams per 100 millilitre. These charges are directly transferred by the manufacturers to the consumers who purchase their sugary drinks.”

Chloe adds, “In a nutshell, sugar tax is imposed in the UK in order to curb health problems such as obesity especially in the young population, diabetes II, and heart diseases among other kinds of illness caused by sugar.”

The above-mentioned article on sugar tax is but one of the many posts published by the online magazine, which has evolved from simply serving the needs of people in London to people in various parts of the world. To make it easy for readers to find the topic they are interested in, the online magazine is divided into several categories: fashion beauty, weight loss, celeb news and shows, news, sports, health and body, money, and movies. Some topics may not even be classified into one of those categories, like a recent article on chat-up lines that can be used to help in approaching a girl. Those who are interested in other information can visit the website of the online magazine and find out more here.

Another category that may be on interest to many people has to do with events involving celebrities and their shows. One example is a news report about the rape case that was filed against Oritse Williams, a previous JLS bandmate. JLS is an English pop and R&B group that was founded by Williams. He had been a vocalist for the JLS and it was in 2016 that he was charged with sexually assaulting a 20 year old waitress right after they have performed one of their gigs at Wolverhampton. The result of this incident was that Williams and his friend Jamie Nagadhana were arrested on December 2, 2016. However, they were able to post up bail and they were able to avoid getting imprisoned. After that the case had turned cold. However, on September 12, 2018, the case was revived and both men are now scheduled to appear in a court of law on October 11, 2018 for the charge of sexual assault with penetration.

Another topic that the online magazine editors believe would be of interest to people is sports. Only recently, London X City published an article that reported on the explosive defeat of Serena Williams from newcomer Naomi Osaka. It is interesting to note that Osaka considered Serena Williams as her idol, so it became a competition between a tennis superstar and her fan. Osaka was, of course, very much inspired with being able to play against her idol in the 2018 United States Open. Unfortunately, Williams suffered from several code violations that ultimately resulted in her losing the match. Osaka became one of the youngest Grand Slam champions, but to her chagrin the crowd started booing when she was announced as the winner. Osaka revealed in a recent interview that Williams had comforted her and told her it was not really Osaka that the crowd was booing.

The above articles demonstrate the wide range of topics discussed by the London X City online magazine. Chloe says, “We have evolved into a magazine that covers those topics that are of interest not just to people in London and UK, but also to those from other parts of the world. Visit our online magazine at www.londonxcity.com and take a look at the content that we have. We bet that you will keep coming back to our site after that.”
