September 28, 2018 – Bethesda, MD – After four successful years making waves in the ramen scene, Ejji Ramen, an award-winning restaurant based in Baltimore is excited to officially announce the opening of their second location inside Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda, MD on October 11, 2018.
“After carefully scouting locations for more than a year, it was clear that Westfield Montgomery Mall would be a great choice for our expansion between the high quality of neighboring tenants and the fact that the mall has a reputation as a dining destination,” said restaurant co-owner Oscar Lee.
Ejji Ramen was founded in 2014 by the Vong-Lee family, which has had presence in the Baltimore restaurant industry for more than 40 years. It is known for using fresh, high-quality, and locally-sourced ingredients, serving authentic ramen noodles made from one of the top noodle suppliers in the world. Ejji Ramen provides a menu with a wide range of inclusive options including gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian meals. By infusing their Malaysian heritage into a menu of home-cooked Asian comfort food, Ejji Ramen sets itself apart from the typical ramen restaurant. The Ejji Ramen cooking methods allow the Vong-Lee family to stay true to their roots, while upholding the meaning of their restaurant’s name “Ejji”- the Japanese word for “edgy.”
Head Chef and Co-Owner Ten Vong said, “For years, we’ve had dedicated guests travel from the DC area to Baltimore to enjoy their favorite ramen bowls dishes. We’re excited to open a location in Bethesda to accommodate those Ejji fans and introduce our food to new faces.”
Similar to the menu at the Baltimore location, Ejji Ramen’s menu at the new Westfield Montgomery location is designed to enhance umami. The new location will serve signature dishes, including fan-favorite ramen bowls such as Tonkotsu Porky Ramen and Miso Corny Ramen, and the famous Ejji Mac & Cheese Ramen Dog, which won Best Hotdog in 2016 by the Baltimore City Paper.
“We are so grateful to our customers in and near the Baltimore community. Without their support, this second location wouldn’t have been possible. Also, the grand opening couldn’t have come at a better time, two weeks prior to the 4-year anniversary of our first location inside the Belvedere Square Market,” said Lee.
Ejji Ramen at Westfield Montgomery will be located inside the food court and will operate Monday – Saturday, 11am – 9pm and Sunday 11am – 6pm. The Westfield Montgomery mall is located at 7101 Democracy Blvd. Bethesda, MD, 20817.
