Intelliscreens, a leading Australian Retractable Screen Company’s latest campaign is urging Queensland homeowners to get their homes ready for summer and avoid diseases associated with mosquitoes, such as Ross River Virus.

As the temperatures start to rise across Australia in August/September, we will also see an increase in insect populations, posing a risk to our health, not only by potentially contaminating food but by spreading viruses through mosquito bites.

Diseases commonly spread by mosquitoes in Australia include Australian Arboencephalitis, Barmah Forest Virus disease and Ross River Virus/ Epidemic Polyarthritis. Ross River Virus in particular can be problematic because most people who are infected with it, aren’t aware they have it.

Within 2 to 20 days after the mosquito bite, the infected person may suffer from fatigue, headaches, joint pains, a rash on the body and limbs and a general feeling of being unwell.

Infected people may suffer symptoms for up to 3 months to a year in rare cases. In severe cases, symptoms may inhibit regular activities.

As spring and summer approach, Intelliscreens is urging homeowners to prepare for the onslaught of insects, especially mosquitoes by having homes fitted with retractable insect screens.

Insect screens have been proven to significantly minimise the impact of insects. Intelliscreens offers one of the nation’s leading retractable insect screens, enabling families to enjoy their homes during the summer months, uninhibited by the barrage of insects which is not only a nuisance but a hazard to our health.

Director of Intelliscreens, Kevin Burnside said the company was happy to announce their annual pre-summer campaign “Get Your Home Summer-Ready – A War on Mossies”, helping Australians protect themselves and their families from swarms of mosquitoes that descend upon homes each Spring/Summer.

“Our goal is to provide Australians with the best quality, affordable solutions to their insect problems”, Mr Burnside said.

On Intelliscreens’ website http://intelliscreens.com.au/ , he said the company offers premium quality retractable fly screens that are also user-friendly, never compromising on style and affordability. He also explained that the company is committed to offering exceptional after-sale service.

“We supply high quality screens that are easy to use, Australian-made, and compliment your décor”, Mr Burnside said. Recently featured in Grand Designs Australia, Intelliscreens are designed to complement your home’s design, even screening openings up to 10 metres wide elegantly.

Mr. Burns urged Queensland homeowners not to expose their families to harmful insect sprays, which are often ineffective in controlling insects when there is a more effective and healthier option that is also better for the environment. By having large door openings screened now, homeowners can rest assured that their families are protected when Spring and Summer arrive, allowing them to enjoy their homes without the fear of pesky and potentially dangerous insects.
