February and March are months when students and those who aim to attend college in the fall look at their prospective schools, and how each institution fits into their personal budget. The scholarship offerings take into account the diverse backgrounds of Southwestern College’s student body, and tries to focus on areas of particular need. Awards for students with families, older students, those of diverse or Native American backgrounds exist in addition to those for Spanish speakers and more general offerings for leadership or those that are program oriented.

“Offering these scholarships, in conjunction with efforts to keep tuition and fees at a minimum, helps more students,” concludes Nolan. “In the end, students who want to be here are able to attend, and as a school dedicated to the mental health field we understand the value of peace of mind.”
