GlucosAlarm on Indiegogo Helps Diabetics Monitor Sugar Levels’

Brownsville, TX – On March 4 2015, Carlos Bernal and Nancy Guerra launched an Indiegogo campaign for GlucosAlarm, an app-enabled glucose sensor that can send an alert to a family member or call an ambulance in the case of an emergency.

“The idea was born when one of our friends, who is actually a doctor, was on his way to the hospital to perform surgery one morning. No one could have ever imagined that on that day he was going to end up in the emergency room because his sugar levels were so high that he was about to go into a diabetic coma,” explain the co-founders, “That?s when we thought about creating an Alarm that would prevent situations like this one. It?s like the alarm in your house, we hope that you never need it, but it gives the tranquility of knowing everything is okay.”

GlucosAlarm is a non-invasive glucose sensor that measures sugar levels in diabetic patients’ urine. The device is controlled by smartphone and was designed to be easy to use. All you have to do is place it inside the toilet, activate the sensor with the app, and with a small sample of urine GlucosAlarm can quickly give you a reading. If glucose levels are dangerous, GlucosAlarm can send an alert or call an ambulance.

GlucosAlarm can also be useful for diabetic patients without high sugar levels. Users can test their glucose levels throughout the day to monitor the effectiveness of their meal plan. GlucosAlarm was made with feedback from potential users in mind. When the co-founders asked diabetic patients what their concerns were when measuring sugar levels they shared things such as cost, a complicated process and fear of using needles.

“By simplifying the measurement process, we feel that GlucosAlarm can be your weapon in this diabetes war,” the GlucosAlarm team says, “It will serve as a tool to experiment, to figure out how your body, your nutrition and this condition are getting along.”

The GlucosAlarm team has come to Indiegogo for feedback and help bringing this product to market at the lowest possible cost to consumers. In exchange for pledging to the project, backers can gain access to a variety of rewards including a portion plate, t-shirts, a beta tester GlucosAlarm, an early bird level GlucosAlarm with enough supplies for 140 tests, and more.
