Wong is one of those successful immigrants in the United States. He came to the U.S. as an international student 20 years ago, and like most teenagers, he wasn’t sure what he wanted to do after he graduated. He received his master’s degree in Engineering and then worked in the travel industry as someone who loved to experience adventure. He wanted to offer the best services to tourists to encourage them to return in the future.

In 2007, he setup his first company and focused just on China’s market because of the growing number of tourists arriving from China. Due to the outstanding services that his company offered, he became highly successful in the travel industry. He also stepped into the restaurants and transportation sphere as the two cross over nicely with the tourism industry.
In 2017, Wong was elected to be a board member of the National Travel Association and the China Inbound Adviser. “Good fortune won’t last forever,” says Wong, referencing the fact that too many competitors have jumped into the industry and forced him to shut down a lot of his business. “This has been a pretty difficult situation for me as everything has been going smoothly, and I’ve never experienced any big hit before,” says Wong.

As he works, he continues to develop other businesses as he says this is the only way to remain on the cutting edge. In the past, Wong did help a lot of international students in the United States anywhere from education and career advises to even personal living issue. At the beginning of 2018, Wong finally decided to completely step into the education industry, and he set up Shiguang Educational in Chengdu Sichuan China (based in New York City).

“I want to offer a service for both students and parents. The products I decided to offer will remind students what the most important thing is for them. It’s not about being accepted by Ivy League schools, and it’s not about being in the top 5 percent on all exams. The most important thing is what they actually need, and everyone is different,”. The goal of Shiguang Educational is to help students find the right school and major for them. “I want every single student from our company to benefit from our USA services,” Wong says.

The organization doesn’t want to help students only apply to college. They also want to offer students complete services in the USA. For example, the “personal advisor” service will give the student a chance to ask for any help while they are in the USA. This service comes with all the packages and parents can be worry-free. “We guarantee that our staff in the States will meet in-person with the student within 24 hours of their call for emergency help, even though we are thousands of miles apart,” says Wong.

Shiguang Educational is going to focus on the services that they offer in the USA for all international students. Their goal is to allow every student to have the best education possible and to also help students acclimate to American culture easier. “Without adequately immersing themselves in America’s culture, they will face a hard time learning as well” says Wong.
