The research in question was a pilot study, carried out by a team of third-party researchers from two Australian institutions to assess the effectiveness of Blephadex Eyelid Wipes in reducing colonies of Demodex. The study found that these wipes were effective in reducing two kinds of Demodex without disturbing the microbiome around the eye or reducing the quality of tears.

After 30 days, the reduction in Demodex was found to be statistically significant in treated eyes, evidence that when used as directed, Blephadex is effective in reducing Demodex as well as the conditions with which Demodex has been positively linked: blepharitis and evaporative dry eye disease.
