Villa Montessori Preschool Columbus Runs Careers And Community Program

September 27, 2019 – – Columbus, OH based Villa Montessori Preschool Columbus is currently running a Careers and Community program to introduce students to the exciting fields they may one day work in. This initiative represents yet another step in the school’s mission to ensure that their students receive the full benefit of the Montessori approach to learning.

Villa Montessori Preschool Columbus School Director Tamye Crutchfield says, “We are incredibly fortunate to be the focal point of a beautiful and vibrant community of teachers, parents, and even grandparents, who all take a conscientious interest in the lives and learning journeys of the children in their care. When we asked for volunteers to help us expand our childrens’ minds, many jumped at the opportunity to contribute with stories from their workplace.” For instance, the preschool shared a post, which can be found at https://www.facebook.com/villamontessoripolaris/posts/1176794785854949, describing a visit from a student’s grandparent who works in the US Postal Service. Crutchfield continues, “We asked for help, and it was there. This is exactly the kind of community spirit that we try to foster here, and our children always gain the most from it.”

She explains that, “We like to encourage and answer our students’ natural curiosity to teach them about the world—and this includes giving them the tools to teach themselves. It might be easier to deliver a lesson in class about the various jobs that are out there and provide an explanation that covers the basics, but this does not give our children the adequate opportunities they need to express themselves. This is why we firmly believe in our Careers and Community program. It enables actual members of those careers to represent their industries in the classroom and gives our students the ability to ask all the questions that they can think of. Crucially, they also get answers that are far more accurate, an important foundation to set at their age.”

To underscore this point, the husband of one of the teachers, a chemical engineer by profession, took part in the program as well. Despite coming from a notoriously complex industry, he was able to simplify the basics of his work to a degree that the students could digest. Crutchfield says, “We are passionate about giving our children access to all the tools they need to exceed in their education and revel in the joys of learning. Our teachers work hard to light a spark in their young minds. We rely on the members of our community to keep the flame burning.” Read further here: https://www.facebook.com/villamontessoripolaris/posts/1176796295854798.

With more than a decade of experience inspiring, teaching, and cultivating young learners, the Villa Montessori Preschool Columbus integrates both the Montessori and Reggio curricula into their classes. Notably, this allows them to instill a desire to explore and innovate in their students. Crutchfield says, “We can teach our children a lot, but the best lessons are often self-taught. We don’t want to simply give them the right answers and consider that enough, we want them to ask us—and the world around them—the right questions.” The school welcomes families from Columbus and the surrounding areas: Worthington, Westerville, Dublin, Delaware, Lewis Center, Galena, New Albany, Hiliard, Upper Arlington, Easton, Gahanna, and Canal Winchester.

Their commitment to their students and the support they offer parents is evident in the testimonials they have received online, many of which can be easily read on their official website. For instance, Felicia K. says, “My son Zaden had an amazing experience at Villa Montessori. The Director is amazing, great teachers, small class size ratio, and I could leave him knowing he had excellent care and he was learning more than I could provide him at home. Definitely recommend Villa Montessori Polaris!”

Similarly, Alyssa said, “This school is wonderful! My son loves the school and had so much fun on his first day. He cannot wait to go back! Thank you for making this such an amazing experience!”
