The Houston personal injury lawyer was recently named to the publication’s list of “Rising Stars.”

Houston personal injury attorney Roger A. Sullivan has been named a “Rising Star” by Texas Monthly’s Super Lawyers publication. The lawyer rating service names attorneys to the list who have demonstrated excellence throughout their career, garnering high recognition from their peers. Sullivan joins an elite group of attorneys from more than 70 practice areas who have been chosen for a coveted spot on the list, which gets distributed to more than 9,000 of the nation’s top law firms.

Super Lawyers Publications

Super Lawyers publications are read by more than an estimated 13 million consumers, legal professionals, and others across the United States. Regional and state editions of Super Lawyers Magazines are published annually. Multiple bar associations and courts have recognized the legitimacy of the selection process utilized by Super Lawyers in naming attorneys to their published lists.

A Special Master assigned by the New Jersey Supreme Court to examine the evaluation process as well as other purposes wrote in a past report “[The Super Lawyers selection process] is a comprehensive, good-faith and detailed attempt to produce a list of lawyers that have attained high peer recognition, meet ethical standards, and have demonstrated some degree of achievement in their field.”

“Suffice to say, the selection procedures employed by [Super Lawyers] are very sophisticated, comprehensive and complex,” he further wrote.

Rising Stars Eligibility

The process of selecting the attorneys included on the Rising Stars list begins with candidate nominations, and are followed by independent research and evaluations. Julie Gleason, the Director of Research at Super Lawyers has stated of the patented process, “We are honored to have a recently granted U.S. patent relating to lawyer-ratings. We take our credibility very seriously, and having a patent assures our customers that we strive to be innovation leaders in our area.”

Those eligible must either be age 40 or younger, or have practiced law for 10 years or less. The final published list of Rising Stars represents no more than a reported 2.5 percent of attorneys in the state.
