“This ability to do laundry without detergent is important to greywater solutions,” said McCardell. “You don’t want to water your lawn and trees with polluted water, which is what you get when using detergent. So you lose the opportunity to use laundry wash water outdoors. And in places like California where every drop counts, this is a big loss.”
