Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Seminar Coming To Mall Of America

April 23, 2015 – – Dr. Lane Pederson of mental health provider, MHS, will present on May 4th for educational panel, “Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Co-Occurring Mental and Chemical Health Issues,” at Mall of America.

MHS, occupying an office space in JGM Properties’ Century Office Park office building, specializes in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), chemical health services and behavioral health interventions.

MHS provides intensive dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) services for individuals with significant difficulties in daily functioning, including: severe depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, relationship problems, and safety issues that require ongoing monitoring and treatment. MHS provides programs that can be an alternative to frequent hospitalizations by providing skills training and support designed to manage emotions, thoughts, behaviors, and crises while remaining safe in the community. MHS collaborates with clients and their treatment teams with the goal of long-term symptom reduction and improved mental health.

MHS serves the Minneapolis and Saint Paul metro area with clinics located in Edina, Woodbury, and Maple Grove. For over 10 years, MHS has helped thousands of people in the Twin Cities using evidence-based practices to inform and improve treatment outcomes.

MHS is Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) certified and a nationally accredited provider of DBT. Using practice-based evidence, MHS tracks clinical outcomes with Outcome Referrals WellnessCheck, providing MHS with a complete, multi-dimensional assessment that illustrates a patient’s strengths, needs and progress during treatment.

“Our outcome data show that our clients achieve clinically significant improvement in depression, anxiety, and substance use, and that our clients who have a history of mental health related hospitalization show a statistically significant reduction in hospitalization rates. MHS clients also rate the quality of services and therapist skill level above industry benchmarks in client satisfaction,” says Taryn Jenson of MHS.

MHS offers three levels of DBT treatment intensity that include intensive outpatient/day treatment, state-certified standard DBT, and a one day weekly option for clients without significant safety concerns. Placement is based on assessed medical necessity that includes safety concerns, severity of symptoms, degree of functional impairment, and amount of existing structure and support. MHS also offers a DBT aftercare program for clients who graduate from a more intensive option.

MHS accepts Medical Assistance (MA) and is in-network with most major insurance companies including Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), Health Partners (HP), Medica, UCare, Preferred One, Cigna, Aetna and Metropolitan Health Plan. MHS accepts United Healthcare and Medicare for individual therapy only.

MHS is certified by the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) to provide standard DBT services. In addition, MHS provides DBT in different treatment formats and levels of care in a manner that fits the American Psychological Association’s (APA) guidelines on evidence-based practices.

The DBT seminar at the Mall of America will consist of an eight-hour course in DBT training and include a copy of DBT Skills Training For Dual Disorder Treatment Settings, as well as a continental breakfast. The registration fee is $169.00. Join DBT author and international trainer Dr. Lane Pederson for an in-depth look into the use of DBT for this challenging yet treatable population.
