Bedford Heights Ohio, USA – April 28, 2015 /MarketersMedia/ —
Woodside Village Retirement Living, a community that’s a part of Brookdale Senior Living, has adopted the seated workout program BalloFlex. This innovative approach to fitness caters to seniors and those with limited mobility. It’s performed while seated, yet makes use of full body movements to provide a comprehensive workout.
The Executive Director of Woodside Village, John Lisi, has said that, “BalloFlex is one of our best programs we run and the atmosphere on the day BalloFlex is scheduled is one of our most upbeat days in the facility.”
BalloFlex works on core muscle groups which helps protect vital organs. It incorporates various exercises that are inspired by dance and calisthenics that aim to improve circulation and elevate the physical status of practitioners.
Terri Krul, Resident Program Director at Woodside Village, is responsible for providing residents with an optimum lifestyle that’s full of purpose, socializing, intellectual stimulation and fitness. With approximately 182 residents, finding programs to enhance all these lives can be quite the challenge. Terri says that her residents have grown to love the program. Not only does it keep them healthy, but it’s a fun event that they look forward to every week. It’s a time for them to sit together and do something active.
The senior fitness program encourages goal setting, inspires confidence and helps instill a sense of accomplishment that many seniors lose. Doing BalloFlex inspires hope and provides a positive outlook for the coming day.
Terri has seen how BalloFlex can improve the moods of the residents at Woodside Village. Some residents are depressed due do ailments that impair their enjoyment of many activities. However, BalloFlex is still available to them and it brightens their day and fills them with purpose. Terri says that the oldest resident, 101, even enjoys following along as best she can on BalloFlex day.
BalloFlex helps keep seniors strong and limber, which can help them recover from falls and bounce back faster from injuries. This is because it improves their being physically, spiritually and mentally. Families of seniors appreciate that their loved ones are doing BalloFlex because of the friendly group environment and improved physical condition.
One of the biggest benefits of hosting BalloFlex in Woodside Village is the sense of community that it instills, according to Terri Krul. The community comes together for BalloFlex and feels great together afterwards. Everybody is happy that they can perform the movements without feeling pain. Terri elaborates that the music and upbeat nature of the class provides the residents with the type of energy they need in their lives.
Terri states that BalloFlex is the most popular program that they offer. It’s hosted twice a month and the residents are always looking forward to it.
