Dr. Chad Carlsson’s Tops Amazon Bestseller Charts With New Book on Ortho-K
Dr. Chad Carlsson, owner of Carlsson Family Eye Center, became a best-selling author last week with his new book, ‘Vision Correction While You Sleep’
GILBERT, AZ / ACCESSWIRE / April 29, 2015 / Dr. Chad Carlsson, owner of Carlsson Family Eye Center in Gilbert, Arizona, became a triple best-selling author last week, according to publisher Ken Sherman of GoProLocal. The new book, “Vision Correction While You Sleep” found its way to the #1 spot on 3 different Amazon Best-Seller lists.
The interview style publication captured the #1 spot in Amazon’s Book’s “Optometry” department while simultaneously holding on to the #1 spot in the “Ophthalmology” and “Allied Health Professionals” departments. The popularity of the book also rated #2 in the broad category of “Surgery”. Dr. Carlsson also received recognition as the top “Hot New Release” in 3 of those departments.
It is interesting to note that although the book is only available in e-book format, it proved popular enough to score a #1 position in the Amazon physical bookstore.
Dr. Carlsson wrote the book to help his patients and prospects better understand the technological advancements and benefits of Orthokeratology treatment. The book delves into differences between Orthokeratology treatment and the use of more traditional contact lenses. Topics of discussion include the potential for Ortho-K to slow the progression of deteriorating eyesight and to allow patients to see 20/20 during the day by simply wearing contact lenses while they sleep.According to the American Optometric Association, Orthokeratology (Ortho-K) is a non-surgical procedure that involves the wearing of a series of specially designed rigid contact lenses to progressively reshape the curvature of the cornea over time. The results of the painless procedure are not permanent; thus, retainer contact lenses must be worn periodically to maintain improvements made in vision. Ortho-K is used to treat low to moderate nearsightedness and low degrees of astigmatism.
Dr. Carlsson graduated with Honors from the Illinois College of Optometry (ICO) in Chicago, IL. Following completion of his doctorate degree, he elected to further his education by completing a Pediatric and Binocular Vision Disorders residency program. During his residency, Dr. Carlsson worked with children and adults in the management of various forms of visual dysfunctions including strabismus, amblyopia, and other accommodative disorders.
Dr. Carlsson has received specialized training in Orthokeratology and helps patients as young as 8 years old with the innovative treatment option. “Today we’re able to slow the myopic progression in children and young adults to a point that they are typically good candidates for Lasik and other vision correction protocols later in life,” said Carlsson. “It’s amazing to see how well patients respond to the corrective procedure and it’s a joy to bring 20/20 vision back to a patient when they don’t have to wear glasses or contacts anymore during the day.”
