Harris School of Business Puts on Its Walking Shoes

Wilmington, DE – April 27, 2015: It has become a tradition at the Harris School of Business in Wilmington. Each year, students and staff join together to walk in the March for Babies? walk-a-thon.
Held on April 26th this year, the walk supported the March of Dimes? in reaching its goal of helping moms have healthy, full-term pregnancies and supporting families whose infants are in intensive care.
Raising money for health-related causes is a natural fit for the Harris School because it ties in directly with Harris’s allied health training programs.
“The walk is a great way to build student awareness of medical issues such as pregnancy complications and prematurity,” explains Michelle Sammartino, Director of Career Services at the Harris School’s Wilmington campus. “Doing the walk together helps to create a sense of community among students and staff.”
According to the March of Dimes, nearly 3 million people will walk in walk-a-thons this year, in almost 700 communities throughout the country. The walk has taken place since 1970, raising approximately $2.3 billion in that time period.
“The Harris School is proud to be part of this tradition, and we hope that students and staff continue to walk for many years to come,” says Keicha Sharp Carter, Wilmington Externship Coordinator.
The Harris School of Business has a long history of providing career-focused programs in the healthcare field. Founded in 1965, the Harris School operates eight campuses located throughout the northeastern region, including campuses in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Connecticut.
