Not-for-profit organization has built a house for homeless women veterans to be called home.
Fort Washington, Maryland, United States – December 28, 2020 /MarketersMedia/ —
Fort Washington, Maryland – Carolyn Community Group Homes Foundation (CCGHF), a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that aims to help homeless women veterans has built a shelter for them. The house, known as “Sojourner House” is a 5-bedroom home designed to provide housing and supportive services for homeless women veterans.
Being sympathetic and sensitive to the needs of homeless women veterans drive the CCGHF to work in the renovation of the house. To make this possible, the organization launched its fundraising campaign to raise $100,000 for the repair of basic structures and features of Sojourner House. They are aware that homeless women veterans need a warm, healthy, and safe environment.
Currently, they are looking for donors to support their cause. Multiple items, supplies, and laborers are needed to restore Sojourner House. Furthermore, all tax-deductible funding donations will be spent in purchasing roof and weatherproof windows, gutter and downspouts installation, and shower/tub installation. There’s also a need to build new kitchen cabinets, countertops, and appliances such as a refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, microwave, among others.
A multi-purpose room also needs finished flooring, interior doors, and refinish hardwood floors. An additional large closet also needs to be installed along with beds, dressers, and other necessary structures and household products. “Our veterans sacrificed a lot to keep our nation safe,” one donor says. “As an ex-military spouse, donating to help those veterans who need it is what I am supposed to do. I thank each of them for their service,” she added.
