Men’s Health: Brazilian healthtech Omens launches platform with focus on sexual health in Latin America
“Sometimes, getting to the right treatment seems like an obstacle course: you have to find the doctor available in the region, who has a reasonably priced visit to then try to schedule an appointment,” says Olivier Capoulade, CEO of Omens.

The taboo around male sexual difficulties, especially sexual disorders, is not new. Many, out of shame to expose the problem, leave professional help aside. On the other hand, patients do not always have access to urologists, doctors specialized in the male reproductive system. It was precisely to unite these ends that Omens, a Brazilian healthtech startup, gathered a significant investment from business angels to connect men to medical visits via telehealth, integrating dedicated content, diagnosis and drug treatment in a single online platform.
Telehealth as an access to healthcare
“Sometimes, getting to the right treatment seems like an obstacle course: you have to find the doctor available in the region, who has a reasonably priced visit to then try to schedule an appointment,” says Olivier Capoulade, CEO of Omens. This was one of the inspirations of the platform, which has just been launched in Brazil to bring together high quality doctors specialized in sexual dysfunctions at affordable prices, in addition to bringing together pharmacies in the same environment to facilitate adherence to treatment.
Capoulade recalls: “There is already a culture among women of routinely consulting gynecologists, and the offer of this specialty is much greater. Our idea is to reduce the gap with urologists so that men have an easy access to specialists”.
Data show that up to 55% of men stopped looking for some kind of treatment during the pandemic in Brazil. Dr. João Brunhara, urologist from USP’s School of Medicine, states that the number may be even greater and independent of the current moment. “Many patients are embarrassed to seek help and end up postponing going to the doctor, especially the urologist,” he explains. In all, Brazil has approximately 5000 urologists of which 1500 are concentrated in the State of São Paulo.
A promising market
With more than 100 million Brazilians without a health insurance plan and a country the size of a continent, Omens is tackling a promising market and intends to contribute to men’s health in the major centers as well as in the country’s many medical deserts. Through telehealth.
“We think we still have a lot to do in Brazil but our ambition is clearly to extend our service to the whole of Latin America” Olivier Capoulade says.
