Storyteller Wins “Best in Show” Grand Prize at VR Hackathon in San Francisco
The little engine that could: Female virtual reality storyteller wins “Best in Show” grand prize at the VR Hackathon in San Francisco!
San Francisco, United States – May 26, 2015 /MarketersMedia/ —
Shero, a virtual reality storyteller and filmmaker packed her bags just six months ago on a wing and a prayer, leaving her hometown in Honolulu, Hawaii for San Francisco. There were some international highly-skilled competitors from professional game companies. Also places like Google.
Her game series follows a first-person, “celebrity day-in-the-Life” experience; where you, the actor, get to face the pressures of a major film audition, followed by winning the role. You then find yourself immersed mid-way through a scene, on a big movie set. The virtual reality series is inspired by a moment from her feature, Juke Box Hero. The movie script is a 2X Sundance Feature Film Lab finalist.
Shero states she spent nearly everything she had to make, Juke Box Hero, that is currently in post-production. She also had to just quit her weekend job in order to attend the hackathon over the weekend. Shero feels she is the little engine that could and is currently talking to investors now.”
Samsung, who was sponsoring, even asked for the code that a team member created specifically for our project. It was involving movement never seen before with their Gear VR headsets. I definitely could not have done it without our amazing team consisting of Mike Jones, Joe Boyle, and Frances Sierra.
