July 1, 2021 /MarketersMedia/ —
British rapper and independent artist Rigormortiz is defying the odds and has continued to release more music despite the music industry taking a massive hit from the pandemic, with live performance as the biggest casualty.
“For me, this is about rising above the challenges and seizing the opportunity to take up space no matter the odds,” he says when asked about how independent artists cope in such a trying time.
While independent artists struggle, especially without the cushion of a record company or some support network, Rigormortiz sees this as an opportunity to “produce more music simply because the world needs to hear our sound, especially in this time of crisis.”
A United Kingdom-based rapper, singer, songwriter and producer, Rigormortiz is also known in the hip-hop underground circles as “The Kameleon'” due to his ability to shift his style and vocal delivery to suit any genre of music.
As a result, his music does not only fall in the Hip-hop/Rap category but also includes elements of Soul, RnB, House, Pop and more all blended in together.
Originally a producer on the U.K Grime scene, he recently decided to start working on his own music as an independent artist, which he claims gives him complete freedom on what projects he can release or get involved with.
“The Rigormortiz Project – Part 1” release
Whilst many artists have had to push back their release dates in an effort to wait out the pandemic, Rigormortiz decided to bite the bullet and proceeded to release his long-awaited mixtape/album, “The Rigormortiz Project – Part 1” on the 21st of January 2021.
He believes music is the food of the soul and that it is something that people need, especially now, to help them cope and get through this difficult time.
“Musicians play a key role in battling this pandemic. Music has the power to uplift. That’s why I continued to press forward despite the roadblocks,” says Rigormoritz.
The album has been well received by critics and features collaborations with other up and coming superstars such as U.K based artist Propayne and French rapper Viny.
He has also gained a massive following on Instagram, YouTube, Facebook and other social media platforms.
The album/mixtape will be followed by the release of an exciting new single entitled ‘Ratatata’ due out on the 30th of July 2021.
This is expected to be a huge track as it was produced by the world acclaimed and talented Diamond Style, who also produced the popular tracks “Bang Bang” and “Click Click”.
Shona and Ndebele album
In honour of his Zimbabwean roots, he is also working on a Shona and Ndebele album, which is set to be released by the end of the year.
The first single releases from this album, “Ndinotenda” and “Mangoma,” are scheduled for release sometime in August 2021.
Rigormortiz, who has no financial backing whatsoever, says he does everything for the simple reason that music is his life.
“I live and breathe for it. Since I was young, I have always dreamt of carving out my own space in the music industry. I want to inspire people and express myself,” the rapper said.
Rigormortiz is also passionate about working with brand new up and coming artists, especially those from less privileged backgrounds, and is more than happy to help provide them with a platform to showcase their talents to the world.
He also personally designs all the merchandise available in his online shop.
He is also currently working on his own NFT artwork based on the cult horror movie characters for which he already had a big following.
