Ms. Shepin will be attending Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey in the fall, where she is majoring in Chemistry Education.

About the 2022 scholarship award recipient, Adele Shepin

Adele Shepin is a first-generation American whose family hails from Moldova. Fluent in Russian and English, Ms. Shepin credits her drive to her family, who came here “with one suitcase, one hundred dollars, and one million dreams.” She embraces her heritage and her family traditions and finds strength and joy in them. In her application essay, Ms. Shepin told the Firm that she also wants to “give back to the healthcare workers who risk their lives every day to help people in need.” That work has already begun; she is a cadet in her local Rescue Squad and was a member of her high school’s Red Cross Club.

Ms. Shepin is, in the words of one of her teachers, a “true scholar.” She plans to study Chemistry Education, a science she finds exciting and inspiring. As someone who is most alive in front of large crowds, Ms. Shepin is ready to motivate and encourage a new group of scholars – whether they’re in a high school or at a college or university – to love Chemistry as much as she does.

About the annual Max McElhaney Memorial Educational Scholarship

Rocky McElhaney Law Firm’s annual Max McElhaney Memorial Educational Scholarship awards $2,500 to an undergraduate student enrolled in an accredited four-year university or college. To be eligible, applicants must submit:

·        Proof of enrollment in a 4-year private college or university for the upcoming fall semester.

·        Student status and/or declaration of major in History or Education.

·        A about the “gold standard of love” in their family

·        A statement of financial need

·        A written statement of no more than 100 words explaining why the applicant should be chosen above all other applicants.

·        One recommendation from a faculty member or university/college advisor.

·        One picture.
