Seoul, South Korea – February 22, 2024 —
- Perform spin-up cooperation project with the Defense Acquisition Program Administration
- Development of high-tech new materials and piezoelectric single-crystal growth technology
- Expected to expand application beyond the defense industry to the private sector
iBULe Photonics Co,Ltd is one of the few Korean companies with world-class technology in the field of underwater acoustic sensors mounted on various maritime weapon systems (surface ships, submarines, torpedoes, etc.). We develop and produce piezoelectric single crystal materials, underwater acoustic sensors, thin film research and development products (MEMS Lidar), and non-destructive sensors, and use the new material, piezoelectric single crystal material (ISC). It is a small but strong company in Korea that has achieved remarkable achievements in the fields of national defense, industry, and research through its technology.
More details of iBULe’s technology can be found at http://www.ibule.com/technology/index.php
ISC, based on the Bridgeman technique of high-temperature and high-pressure processing technology, is a new material that improves the technical limitations of piezoelectric ceramics, an existing sensor material, and can be applied to all fields where sensors are needed. This piezoelectric single crystal technology has brought about great changes in the civil, industrial, and military fields. High sensitivity and broadband performance have been improved with ultrasonic sensors for private medical diagnosis, such as ultrasonic transducers for obstetrics and gynecology and the abdomen and ultrasonic transducers for non-destructive testing.
High sensitivity performance has been increased by about 10 times with industrial non-destructive ultrasonic sensors, and the function of detecting micro defects has also been improved. In particular, it is expanding its wide range of use by applying military underwater acoustic sensors that expand the detection band to low-frequency operating frequencies.
The significance of the development of new materials is that it has been able to compete with advanced countries in the development of piezoelectric single crystal technology such as the United States, Japan, and China, creating a new industrial environment through import substitution and material export. Globally, demand for advanced acoustic and sensor technologies is increasing in defense, maritime, and industrial fields. The development of new materials and securing technology is also notable for the creation of economic benefits of up to 3 trillion won through the export of new materials and the substitution of imported parts for domestically produced parts.
iBULe Photonics Co,Ltd, which received attention from global defense companies as a company with advanced new materials and advanced technology through UDT2023 (Under Sea Defense Technology 2023) held in Rostock, Germany last year, is already a recognized company in the field of small and medium-sized materials. iBULe Photonics Co, Ltd, established in 1999, received [Confirmation of Core Strategy for Materials, Components, and Equipment] from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy in 2020, and was also designated as [Korea’s Best Company for Materials, Components, and Equipment] in 2021.
