Charleston, SC & Minneapolis, MN – September 24, 2024 /MarketersMEDIA/ —
In a dazzling showcase of innovation and creativity, one of JOY Architecture + Interior Design’s recent projects has garnered the attention of HGTV Magazine. The feature in the magazine’s latest issue highlights a vibrant reimagining of the main level of a Minneapolis home, designed to accommodate the energetic lifestyle of a young family who enjoy hosting their family and friends.
The Vivid Color project, which appears in a 10-page spread in HGTV Magazine, is a collaborative masterpiece from a stellar team including Kayla Holzhauer and Joy Martin from JOY Architecture + Interior Design, Erinn Farrell of Erinn Farrell Design and the homeowners, Alex and Matt West-Steinman. The transformation is a testament to the team’s dedication to blending functionality with bold, colorful design elements.
Key to the home’s new look are the custom mosaic tiles crafted by Mercedes Austin of Mercury Mosaics, which add a unique and artistic flair to the space. The builder for this ambitious project was Mike Knutsen of Minneapolis, MN, whose craftsmanship and attention to detail were instrumental in bringing the vision to life.
Kayla Holzhauer, a rising star in the field of architecture, played a pivotal role as both co-designer and project manager. Her contributions were crucial to the project’s success, and the experience has been a significant milestone in her growth as a young professional in the industry.
The team’s main architectural challenge was to resolve flow and efficiency issues while working within the existing footprint of the home. The JOY team opened up the kitchen, dining, and living room spaces to function better for hosting gatherings and increase storage, while still maintaining the feeling of separate spaces. The team eliminated the choppy, segmented design of the main living space by removing part of the living room wall, creating a more open and cohesive plan. The architecture team then transformed the home’s dumpy breezeway into a highly functional mudroom and home office space with easy access to the backyard for the rambunctious young family.
From interior makeovers like this project to kitchen remodels or extensive renovations in new homes and commercials buildings, the JOY team aims to understand the client’s unique vision. Each project begins with an exploration of ideas in the schematic design phase, and then, the project is brought to life during the design development phase where clients can begin to see the end goal. Both the budget and timeline are always at the forefront of the work to ensure the project stays on track and the client’s dream becomes a reality.
The HGTV Magazine feature, made possible through Farrell’s extensive industry connections, includes a special Sherwin Williams segment, showcasing the innovative use of color throughout the home. The spread not only highlights the project’s aesthetic achievements but also celebrates the collaborative spirit and exceptional talent of the entire team.
