Chris Tomlin has announced his 2015 fall tour dates, and he will begin his 25 date tour in Columbus, Ohio at the Celeste Center. Other Chris Tomlin ticket events are scheduled throughout the Bible belt and extend as far north as New York, NY. He finishes up the tour on November 14 at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The wildly successful musical artist, who was nominated for a Grammy for the seventh time last year, learned to play the guitar by strumming along to Willie Nelson records, and wrote his first worship song by the time he was fourteen years old. Despite this, he almost didn’t pursue a music career. He originally planned to pursue a career in psychology, and actually enrolled in college and completed the degree. But then he teamed up with Louis Giglio, who is the founder of Passion, and they put on a worship event in hopes of causing a spiritual awakening at the Austin, Texas college campus. Tomlin led the worship service and the results were dynamic and that caused him to change his career path.
Since then, Tomlin has gone on to sell nearly 30 million records, and has recorded many loved hits such as “How Great Is Our God,” “Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone),” “Our God,” and “Jesus Messiah.” His latest song, “Jesus Loves Me” is already making waves in the Christian community as one of his best worship songs to date. Tomlin has won many awards in his short career, including Male Vocalist of the Year in 2006 and 2007, Artist of the Year, 19 GMA Dove Awards, and has been nominated for 7 Grammy Awards, finally winning one in 2012 for Best Contemporary Christian Music Artist. He also won the Billboard Music Awards Top Christian Artist and Top Christian Song for “Our God” in 2011.
In 2013, his album “Burning Lights” debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart. It was only the fourth contemporary Christian album to do so. Tomlin has expanded outside of Christian audiences in other ways, too. In 2007, his song “Indescribable” was played as the official wake-up call for Patrick Forrester on the Space Shuttle mission. Finally, Tomlin holds 5 of the 25 top worship songs in the US, making him a force to be reckoned with in the contemporary Christian concert music scene.
“We expect this tour to be huge, as we started ticket sales Monday June 22, 2015? said a spokesman from ConcertBank, an independent online ticket seller. “Tomlin’s crossover appeal is quite large, so we expect the tickets to go quickly.”
In addition to Tomlin’s musical career, he makes it a point to give back by participating in charities such as CompassionArt and CURE International, which gives medical care to children in third world countries. He is also still active in the Passion conferences, and built a church one year ago in Atlanta, Georgia.
