Prince George’s County EDC Partners with the Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce & Welcomes Community Liaison
Upper Marlboro, MD – The Prince George’s County Economic Development Corporation is pleased to announce our partnership with the Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GWHCC). This partnership will support economic development by facilitating the success of Hispanic and other minority-owned businesses and the communities they serve through networking, advocacy, education and access to capital.
The Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce dedicates itself in providing assistance to all small businesses in the Washington metropolitan region. The GWHCC provides avenues for small businesses to gather further assistance by offering workshops and receptions for these businesses to expand their visibility within the community. Given the current workforce and the socio-economic demands, it is critical to support these entrepreneurs in the underserved neighborhoods of Washington, D.C., and Prince George’s County.
To commemorate this partnership, the EDC is pleased to welcome Chanil Pimentel as our Hispanic business community liaison. “We are delighted to have Chanil as a part of the EDC Team,” stated Jim Coleman, President and CEO of the EDC. “This partnership with the GWHCC is critical to the success of any economic development organization. Through this targeted partnership, the EDC and County are able to reach a specific community that represents one of the fastest growing business communities in the County and we look forward to cultivating this relationship with Chanil as a part of our organization.” Chanil is a strong, analytical professional who has served as the Customer Relation Coordinator for the Banco Popular Dominicano in the Dominican Republic, as a Financial Reporter for the Organization of American States (OAS) and in operational control in Citibank.
“We are very excited about this partnership. Since Hispanics are the fastest growing minority in Prince George’s County, GWHCC will play a key role in providing the resources entrepreneurs need to start and grow their business,” said Angela Franco, President and CEO for the GWHCC. “This partnership will result in direct economic and job growth for this thriving county.”
The GWHCC is a 501(C)6 membership driven organization, founded in 1976, that supports the economic development of the greater Washington metropolitan area.
