Comedian Jerry Seinfeld Says He Refuses to Play to College Campuses

Comedian Jerry Seinfeld made the news just in time for his current tour when he told a reporter that he doesn’t play college campuses because today’s kids are too politically correct.

Comedian Jerry Seinfeld is once again making the news, and this time it conveniently coincides with his latest national stand up tour. In an interview, the standup comedian recently told ESPN’s Colin Cowherd that he doesn’t play college campuses because kids these days are too politically correct. No one knows for sure whether Seinfeld meant to ignite a social media storm, or if he was just being honest, but set off a controversy it did. He further fanned the flame by telling the reporter that he’s not the only comedian who avoids the college tour circuit in favor of playing stadiums, comedy clubs and other venues. He said that he doesn’t like to feel as if he has to censor his jokes to avoid sensitive or politically incorrect topics. He’ll tackle a subject if he thinks he can make it funny, he says he talks about the topics he does because he can make them funny. He said the ones he can’t make funny, people don’t hear about.”

True fans of the comedian are not surprised by his latest remarks. Seinfeld is known for taking the mundane and make it hilariously funny—he even created an entire sitcom based on absolutely nothing. In fact, most people who follow Seinfeld say that he has always had a knack for feeling where the country is at. This is the man, after all, who guessed that the country was ready for “Seinfeld” – a show with no real plot line whose only purpose seemed to be showcasing the quirky personalities of the main characters and the relationships between them.

Currently, Jerry Seinfeld is traveling the country on a tour that takes him from coast to coast, and it should come as no surprise that the comedian is playing to sold out houses and enthusiastic reviews in every venue. In fact, one reviewer said that seeing Seinfeld on tour is like catching all of your favorite Seinfeld episodes, only funnier. Politically correct or not, it seems that the country is still enamored with Jerry Seinfeld and his off-beat humor. “There is no doubt that this will be a sellout tour,” said a spokesman from ConcertBank. “The man is just too popular for there to be an empty seat in the house.”

Seinfeld’s 2015 tour schedule is brutal. He is scheduled to perform a rigorous tour schedule straight through November with some days doing two shows a day. Perhaps the comedian himself summed it up best when asked why he wouldn’t consider another television show. He said that he’s old, he’s rich, and he’s tired.
