Oil & Gas Opportunities in a Post-Sanctions Iran

Iran and the P5+1 agreed a historic deal in high stake negotiations on the 14th July, making way for the biggest opportunity for international oil & gas companies to access low cost petroleum. Iran and the P5+1 agreed a historic deal in high stake negotiations moments ago. The deal concluded Iran’s nuclear case and in effect has opened the largest closed market in the world for trade and commerce. The joint statement of the EU High Representative Mogherini and Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif was short and sweet- in brief it stated that an Iran deal had been agreed at last.

The text of the Iran deal has been made publicly available and can be reviewed here. As part of the agreement, a UN resolution will be submitted, to be adopted within a 90 day period. Subsequent to that, and on verification of the peaceful nature of the Iranian nuclear programme, the major UN, EU and US sanctions will be lifted simultaneously. This will bring to an end one of the harshest regime of sanctions in the world, allowing investments into Iran’s economy and its oil and gas sector.
