Professors Rebel Against Publish Or Perish In New Writing Bootcamp
July 20, 2015 – – Academic Muse, an online coaching company for professors and dissertation writers, has just announced that they will be offering a writing bootcamp. The bootcamp is designed to assist with writing tasks, such as writing academic journal articles, books, or dissertations, and to empower academic people so that they can stand up to the pressures of publish or perish.
The course of coaching help and writing accountability helps professors, post-grads, and graduate students in a number of key areas related to writing.
“It’s more difficult than people realize,” says Arnold M. a grad student. “When we grad students hit the dissertation stage, it’s a completely different ballgame. People have no idea how hard it can be to make yourself focus enough to get it done.”
“That’s where we come in,” says Alan Klima of Academic Muse. “We designed this bootcamp to really push grads and professors into getting that writing done when it needs to be done, and into producing a higher quality at the same time.”
The course, which can be viewed at http://www.academicmuse.org/bootcamp/, provides valuable tools to writers to assist them along their way. “We’ve included a full suite of products that enable writers to track daily writing, and report their struggles and accomplishments along the way, as well as techniques of drafting and outlining that you won’t find anywhere else,” states Klima.
Graduates can attend the four week session for less than $90 and will receive the tool suite in addition to online coaches who will provide feedback about their writing process and things that they can do to improve their production.
The cost for post-graduates and professors is under $100. “We wanted to make it as affordable as possible, to accomodate the need,” states Klima.
Klima has spent the past 10 years honing his writing skills and focusing on graduate writing intensives. He won the Victor Turner Prize for Ethnographic Writing in 2012 for his “The Funeral Casino” and is a current professor of anthropology at the University of California in Davis.
The course is designed to provide insights and motivation for those who need to write during their academic or professional years. It is available to professors, graduate students and those seeking their doctorates.
