The Institute of Canine Sciences is pleased to announce they have recently applied with the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities for recognition as a Private Career College. This certification by the Ministry, the government body responsible for regulating private career colleges in Ontario, would mean that the Institute of Canine Sciences’ curriculum and education programs would be found to comply with the standards of the Private Career Colleges Act.

Once approved, the Institute of Canine Sciences would offer a variety of certification and diploma programs for people considering a career as a canine trainer, dog handler, animal care attendant, groomer, dog walker, kennel manager, canine behaviourist, and other educational courses, as well as ongoing training, continuing education, and certification for professionals already working in the canine care industry. The Institute of Canine Sciences does require membership in order to enroll in diploma programs. All students, who will be enrolled into a diploma program automatically, become members in good standing.

Other professionals, who are non-members, will be invited to enroll in certificate courses, as well as diploma exam preparation courses. Non-members will be encouraged to become a member by paying an annual membership fee. Membership provides access to industry resources and information, the Professional’s Club, professional credentials, and the Institute of Canine Sciences’ logo.

In addition, the Institute of Canine Sciences will feature a Professional’s Club for members in good standing, who have successfully completed a diploma program. This club will allow professionals the opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge in an open environment with other professionals. Participants may even bring their own dog or a client’s dog along during these sessions.
