Activist Singer Becca Moore to Perform Live in Los Angeles on September 4, 2015 at 9pm
French & Funky Soul Singer Becca Moore will spread a message of love, peace and social justice at Molly Malone’s in Los Angeles on September 4, 2015 at 9pm
LOS ANGELES, CA / ACCESSWIRE / August 18, 2015 / Made in France and born again in California, musician, screenwriter and activist Becca Moore left the glamour of Paris for the glitz of L.A. to expand the reach of her voice and deliver passionately progressive messages through music and television. After over two years of pure creation, Becca has recently started performing live with her groundbreaking Soultown Super Project, aiming to revive the conscious flame of the 70s. She is guided by the belief that, to reference the great Gil Scott-Heron, “the revolution should now be televised on all possible screens.” Becca has carefully picked her musicians among the brightest rising stars and seasoned jazz talents alike, as she feels that diversity of culture, age and experience is key to her unique brand of funky soul music.
Long known as a mecca for songwriters of all stripes, Molly Malone’s has the perfect atmosphere and ample stage space for Becca’s 7 piece electric band, complete with trumpet, alto flute and tenor sax. Lenny Kravitz, Michelle Shocked and many more have played this legendary Fairfax venue since it opened its doors in 1969, down the street from Becca’s current mid-city crib. Her set will be Friday September 4 from 9 to 10pm, cover is $10.
“I feel like I’m fulfilling my purpose which is spreading a message and addressing some issues through my music and storytelling, like Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and tv shows like “Roots” did in the 70s. With Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert moving on from political satire, we need to grow the tribe of conscious artists who step up in calling our leaders to task.”
After winning her first singing competition by flooring the crowds of her hometown at age 4, Becca became an acclaimed soloist on the French classical music scene and in church choirs. She also applied herself in school, despite the storms she faced at home, and ended up graduating first in her class from the prestigious English and American Literature Master program at Paris VII University. She later formed her first all-star quintet and toured in Paris and eventually New York. Back in France, the storyteller in Becca realized which way to go to take her art to the next level: West again, but this time all the way to Hollywood.
Becca then applied for a green card, granted for extraordinary ability in the arts, and worked in the industry, translating dialogue into French for numerous TV shows, including “Mad Men” and “Nurse Jackie.” She soon came up with the concept for her own musical TV drama series entitled “Soultown Super.” Its story explores the journey of Ray, a building manager extraordinaire born in a Black ghetto, who is intent on shaking off the burden of history, while uplifting the microcosm of society that lives under his roof into an urban oasis. Becca recently completed this first pilot script and is now working on a second project, a half-hour musical dramedy series entitled “Off the Rez.”
In addition to the tracks from the “Soultown Super” project, Becca will be debuting a song that addresses climate change and the environmental devastation humans have caused.

About Becca Moore:
Made in France and born again in California, Becca Moore is an activist funky soul singer and emerging tv writer who worships the 70s, Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder. Her two current projects, “Soultown Super” and “Off The Rez” are musical stories that hope to prove that the cultural and spiritual Revolution that America needs can now be televised. Inspired as much by “Roots” as “Mad Men”, she is inventing a new form of musical drama in which every episode has a theme song that crowns its arcs, plots and themes, spreading a message of love and healing with the power of an anthem.
Becca Moore left the city of lights for the city of angels to find her voice and deliver progressive messages through songs and stories and is now ready to revive the conscious flame of the 70s, guided by the belief that, to reference the great Gil Scott-Heron, “the revolution should now be televised on all possible screens.”
After winning her first singing competition by flooring the crowds of her hometown at age 4, Becca became a sought after soloist on the French classical music scene and in church choirs, performing intensively for many years. While shifting her focus to jazz and funk, she applied herself in school, despite the perilous storms she faced at home, and ended up graduating first in her class from the prestigious English and American Literature Master program at Paris VII University.
Shortly after, she auditioned for Robert Cordier’s Acting International School, and was admitted directly into the final year of the program. Cordier encouraged Becca to reconnect with her musical roots, starting her off writing songs and playing with her quintet in Paris, which she later took to New York for an exciting five show run at the Village Theater. The storyteller in Becca knew which way to go to take her art to the next level: West, all the way to Hollywood.
After obtaining her green card, granted for extraordinary ability in the arts, Becca worked in the film industry to finance her dream, translating dialogue into French for numerous TV shows, including “Mad Men” and “Nurse Jackie.” She soon came up with the concept for her own musical TV drama series entitled “Soultown Super.” Its story explores the daily struggles and lifetime victories of Ray Garland, an African American building manager extraordinaire born in the ghetto, who is intent on shaking off the burden of history and climbing the social ladder, while unifying and uplifting the microcosm of society that lives under his roof into an urban oasis, opening new horizons for all, “one window at a time.” Becca recently completed this first pilot script and is now working on a second project, a half-hour musical dramedy series entitled “Off the Rez.”
