AndroGel Testosterone Lawsuits: Bellwether Trials Discussed In Recent MDL Status Conference

August 18, 2015 – – Banville Law reports on recent updates from the Multidistrict litigation (MDL) regarding the alleged dangers of testosterone replacement therapy products.

The selection of initial bellwether trials for the MDL (No. 2545) was discussed in the latest status conference held on August 14th, according to official court documents.

Specifically, minutes from the status conference suggest that AbbVie, Inc. – the manufacturer of AndroGel and defendant in the pending litigation – proposed that the Court select 32 individual cases for discovery. After completing discovery of these 32 cases, AbbVie, Inc. proposes that parties on both sides of the litigation select six of those complaints for trial.

On the other hand, plaintiffs in the MDL argued that only the six bellwether trials should be selected by the Court and instead, proposed that both parties submit a list of 16 potential complaints for the bellwether trials.

About Low T Lawsuits:

The safety of AndroGel and other popular low testosterone products have come under question after studies have associated their use with dangerous side effects.

Patients who were prescribed treatments for testosterone replacement therapy have reported a number of dangerous side effects including heart attack, stroke, deep vein thrombosis and other serious medical conditions.

As a result, men have filed lawsuits against the manufacturers of low testosterone treatments alleging that these manufacturers acted negligently by misrepresenting the safety of their products.

There are now more than 1,000 lawsuits which have been filed in relation to the alleged dangers of testosterone replacement therapy products.
