Testosterone Lawsuit: More Complaints Filed Against âLow-Tâ Drug Manufacturers
August 27, 2015 – – Banville Law reports that more than 2,000 testorone lawsuits have now been filed in relation to allegedly harmful side effects associated with testosterone replacement therapy supplements.
Several studies have now been published which have demonstrated a significant association between the use of testosterone replacement medications and an increased risk for adverse events.
One specific study was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association in which researchers found that there was a significant increase in the risk of heart attack among men using certain low testosterone therapy drugs.
In their conclusion, researchers noted that the rate of testosterone therapy prescriptions has increased rapidly in recent years as total annual prescriptions rose by five-fold between 2001 and 2011.
Many argue that the increased rate of testosterone therapy prescriptions has largely been the result of aggressive marketing campaigns in which testosterone therapy drug manufacturers misrepresented the safety and efficacy of their drugs.
Low T Litigation: Legal Action Taken By Men Across The Country
Individuals are now taking legal action against these drug companies by filing products liability lawsuits.
In 2014, a Multidistrict Litigation (MDL 2545) was formed in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Illinois after several complaints were brought against the manufacturers of various low testosterone drugs.
The number of lawsuits filed in the MDL has continuously grown since its inception and now includes more than 2,300 cases against various drug manufacturers including AbbVie Inc., Pfizer, Auxilium and others.
Among other allegations, plaintiffs allege that these pharmaceutical companies failed to warn the public about the dangers associated with their drugs and maliciously misrepresented the safety and efficacy of those drugs.
These plaintiffs seek to recover monetary compensation for medical expenses and lost wages, as well as for pain and suffering, incurred as a result of their exposure to testosterone replacement therapy supplements.
“We are working with individuals from around the country who wish to file a testosterone lawsuit in the MDL,” said Laurence Banville, Esq. of Banville Law.
