China Continues to Lead Global Articles of Stationery Exports, with $1.5B in 2014 – IndexBox Marketing
IndexBox Marketing has just published a new report “World: Articles Of Stationery – Market Report. Analysis and Forecast to 2020”
China continued its dominance in the global articles of stationery trade. In 2014, China exported 571.8 thousand tonnes of articles of stationery totaling 1.5 billion USD, more or less equal to the year before. Its primary trading partner was the U.S., where it supplied 21.0% of its total articles of stationery exports in value terms, accounting for 33.3% of the U.S.’s total imports.
From 2007 to 2014, China was a net exporter of articles of stationery. In this period, exports consistently exceeded imports in value terms. In physical terms, this difference was even more pronounced due to high import prices.
Germany and Italy were among the other main global suppliers of articles of stationery in 2014. However, the fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2014 were China (+8.2% per year) and India (+9.4% per year). With this, China was able to bolster its position in the global export structure.
In 2014, China’s top 5 trading partners were the U.S., Japan, the United Kingdom, Australia and Germany, with a combined 41.6% share of China’s articles of stationery exports. The share of Iraq increased slightly (+1.7 percentage points), while the share of the U.S. illustrated negative dynamics (-5.7 percentage points).
