San Francisco, CA August 28th, 2015

On June 24, 2015, California Gov. Jerry Brown signed into law a one-time amnesty program concerning unpaid traffic and non-traffic infraction tickets for the entire state of California.

Beginning October 1, 2015, and expiring March 31, 2017, ticketed drivers may have their past due traffic fines reduced by up to 80% along with having their driver’s license status reinstated. Complete details of the California Traffic Ticket Amnesty effecting Failure to Appear and Failure to Pay tickets may be found at http://www.courts.ca.gov/trafficamnesty.htm.

This announcement has the potential to have a significant impact on the driving record of any individual. Not only can past ticket fees be reduced dramatically, but tainted drivers’ records may also be cleared being of benefit to anyone affected in the past. Time is limited, so the impacted drivers must take immediate action to clear their record.

The two groups of people eligible to participate in the Traffic Ticket amnesty program for Failure to Appear and Failure to Pay traffic tickets with California Driver’s License Holds and Suspended Driver’s License are as follows as per http://www.courts.ca.gov/trafficamnesty.htm

1) Persons with unpaid tickets whose fines were originally due to be paid or had a court date on or before January 1, 2013, are eligible to have their debt reduced by 50 or 80 percent depending on income AND have their driver’s license reinstated.

2) Persons who are currently making payments for unpaid tickets both before and after January 1, 2013 are eligible to have their driver’s license reinstated but are NOT eligible for a reduction in the amount they owe on their payment plan(s).
