AUSTIN, TEXAS September 3, 2015
The Prostate Cancer Awareness Project (PCAP) in Manhattan Beach, California has announced the appointment of Mr. Kent Leipold of Lago Vista, Texas to as the PCAP’s Ambassador for the state of Texas.
Prostate cancer is the most common male cancer in the United States, with 2.8 million prostate cancer survivors living in the US today and 240,000 more men receiving a prostate cancer diagnosis each year. More than 1.2 million American men have died from prostate cancer since President Richard M. Nixon declared the War on Cancer in 1971.
Mr. Leipold will be leading The PCAP’s #JustGet6 prostate cancer awareness initiative in Texas. “One in six men will have prostate cancer during their lifetime and prostate cancer is highly treatable if detected early,” said Robert Hess, PCAP’s founder and himself a prostate cancer survivor.
“The #JustGet6 program is all about getting men to ask 6 of their colleagues if they have had their annual prostate cancer PSA blood test. Taking that simple blood test and then tracking the results using PCAP’s ProstateCancerTracker tool will give men early warning of their prostate cancer when it is most treatable. We are extremely pleased to have Kent working with us and we know together we will save many lives,” explained Hess.
