Canadian Halloween Costume Retailer Oya Costumes Expands Its Pet Costumes

Like adult and children costumes, it seems pet costumes are now also reflecting the trends in media and movies.

Canadian online Halloween Costumes retailer Oya Costumes announces today that it is expanding its selection of pet costumes and accessories in its web stores: www.oyacostumes.ca and www.deguisementhalloween.ca. Based in Montreal, the company is responding to the growing trends of pet owners dressing up their pets with Halloween Costumes Canada.

“One in three households owns a dog, which means Canadian families have 5.9 million dogs as pets,” said Faten Hodroge, President and founder of Oya Costumes. “This rate is even higher for families with young children. More than half of families with kids 6-17 years of age have a dog.”

“We assumed that most of our pet costumes are purchased as an addition to the family’s outfits, mostly families with young kids. But we are noticing there is also a segment of customers that are coming to buy only pet costumes.” Ms Hodroge notices that many adults with no kids are now celebrating Halloween costumes for pets.

Social Media is also playing a role in the growth of pet costumes. People seem to love to post pictures of their pets. And nothing is more fun that showing a unique picture of a pet with a funny costume! “It is obvious that some of those we sell like some with an intricate hat are really being used for just a picture whereas a hot dog costume can be used for walking the dog around the neighborhood.” The trend for dogs dressing up for Halloween is surely here to stay.
