Thai Army and Australian Army To Enhance The operations And Tactical Skills

Chumphon, Thailand- Royal Thai Army and Australian Army organized the CHAPEL GOLD 2015 at Udomsakdi barracks, Chumphon province. This is a joint training for the soldiers to enhance the operations tactical skills of the insurgency suppression.

The chief of 5th Infantry Division General Kunnawut Mokaew and the director of Australian Army’s Combined Arms Training and Development Centre Brigadier Peter Short joint presided over the opening ceremony of the practicing of Royal Thai Army and Australia Army that is called “Chapel Gold 2015.”

The Chapel Gold 2015 ‘s combined training is a tactical training in the framework of the Infantry Battalions. The soldiers who’s joining the tactical training are composed of 2 troops of Thai Army ‘s soldier and 1 troop of Australian Army ‘s soldier. The training was focused on the prevention and suppression of the insurgency of small military units. And it was stressed to increase the soldiers’s skills in tactical operations, to create an experience to develop the soldier’s professionalism, and to make a good relationship between the Royal Thai Army and Australian Army.

The training was set for 15 days of combine training from August 27 – September 15, 2015. And it was split into two parts: the exchange training for the prevention and suppression of the insurgency (CTX) and the field training (FTX)

The part of the prevention and suppression of the insurgency was set to operate the ambuscade training, the ambuscade combat, the blockade, the battle in the building which used the areas in the Udomsakdi camp.

And the part of FTX, It was adopted the exchange training with the situation defining. It was focused on the proactive manner operating to the insurgency. The battle training used the areas of Bang Berd village, Pa Tiw district, Chumphon province.

General Kunnawut Mokaew said Thailand and Australia have good military cooperation and relations for so a long time. Particularly in the peacekeeping missions that Thailand and Australia have joint as a member of the United Nations High-Readiness Brigade
