Joule Solar Energy Announces Partnership With Amicus

September 21, 2015 – – Joule Solar Energy, based in New Orleans, LA, has announced that they are entering into a partnership with Amicus Solar Cooperative, which is a collective of independent solar power companies. To date, the cooperative has 33 different members. Their goal is to find new and improved renewable technology at affordable prices. Joule Solar Energy operates along those same goals, creating the perfect partnership.

“As a certified B-Corporation, we regularly partner with peers to promote understanding for the greater good,” says Robert Schmidt from Joule Solar Energy. “From promoting sustainability to finding ways to help our local community, we believe that we can achieve so much more through cooperation and respect.”

Amicus first started a purchasing cooperative based on SunPower partner meetings. This quickly evolved into something much bigger that included information collaboration. They created a CMS portal, on which various topics can be discussed. Additionally, they organize semi-annual retreats, where the various members can meet each other, share information and discuss issues in the world of renewable technology and sustainable energy.

While talks are still ongoing, Joule Solar Energy is potentially slated to host an upcoming meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana. This event will be invite-only for the different installers that are part of the Amicus cooperative. Many of these are also B Corporations. “So far, we have already learned so much from this experience,” adds Robert Schmidt. “We are up to date with a number of best practices now as well as business philosophies. Most importantly, the bank of knowledge we have been able to access goes way beyond photovoltaic knowledge, looking at various other types of technology. For instance, we have learned a lot about LEDs from a different member company in the cooperative.”

Joule Solar Energy is currently working with various other companies. The goal is to ensure their clients can access both best practices and best prices. This is achieved through the company’s triple bottom line approach. This includes having the knowledge and experience to actually deliver effective tools and technology. It also includes learning from other partners and from themselves, thereby contributing to continuous improvement.
