Rick Liuag, (LEE-wag), author of “How to Build Your Own Online Insurance Agency.” and “You’re Gonna Need A Bigger Boat,” says the unintended consequences of the Affordable Care Act have only just begun to impact seniors . Without planning and reliable information, claims Liuag, older Americans won’t be able to avoid a severe hit to their retirement savings.

Liuag maintains that while seniors, families, and business owners often rely on their CPA’s, insurance agents, and financial planners for advice, few of those professionals are telling them the truth about how to plan for Obamacare.

“ There are only a handful of financial and health insurance professionals who really understand this legislation. The few who DO often have their own political agendas or are hoping against hope that the law will be repealed,” he says. “Some are worried about scaring their older clients, so they simply ignore the facts,” he stated.

Liuag has devoted months to studying the Affordable Care Act, discovering that it would indeed impact seniors on Medicare, even though politicians and commentators were saying otherwise. “Many seniors will discover they have less access to the health care providers they choose. Some seniors will also find themselves paying more due to tax increases.”

Liuag claims that a significant number of doctors are already refusing new Medicare patients and with over 11,000 people a day qualifying for Medicare in the United States, this could become a huge issue.

“I have talked to many retirees who have told me that their own physicians, facing patient overload and reduced reimbursements, are opting to retire early or start private clinics that do not accept Medicare.”
The good news, though is that there are opportunities here to keep from having the ACA eat your retirment alive,” he says.

Liuag has put together a few of the solutions he feels can help seniors cope with the fallout from the Affordable Care Act into his new book:

“You’re Gonna Need A Bigger Boat:

• Shows how the Affordable Care Act is impacting EVERYONE regardless of age, social status, or financial standing, with seniors and business owners especially affected.
• Reveals the ACA’s hidden traps and unintended consequences that could do serious damage to a senior’s retirement savings.
• Outlines strategies smart retirees and pre-retirees can use to blunt the negative impact of Obamacare on their bottom lines.
• Proves that the Affordable Care Act will wind up costing seniors more money than they ever imagined.
