Benefactor Launches IndieGoGo Campaign to Raise Funds to Fight Shortages in Ghana
A recent IndieGoGo campaign focuses on the problem of the water and power crisis in Ghana and is raising funds to battle these issues.
The country of Ghana and the community of Gomoah Nanyano suffer from the effects of continuing power outages from the effects of continuing power outages and water. Both issues have become a ‘silent killer’ claiming and continuing to claim hundreds of lives in this community alone. This community’s people cannot improve their quality of life without help from others, so a benefactor has launched an IndieGoGo campaign to raise funds to help this community.
For the past 12 months, Ghana has been in the grip of a terrible crisis known as “Dumsor Dumsor,” which means “on and off.” Electricity is not reliable, and the shortage of clean drinking water has led to epidemics of dysentery and other deadly diseases. With the help of donors, Hassan Mughal and his team have launched a campaign to raise money to construct a basic solar power station and water desalination plant in Gomoah Nyanyano. These plants would provide simple stations to provide essential power and water for the community.
As seen at https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/power-water-crisis-in-ghana, the IndieGoGo campaign offers pledge levels and prizes as follows: for a pledge of $5, donors receive a thank you from the group; for a pledge of $10, a plastic Ghana keychain; for a pledge of $20, a wooden Ghana keychain; for a pledge of $30, a miniature drum keychain; for a pledge of $40, a colorful Ghana wristband; for a pledge of $50, a unisex printed hairband; for a pledge of $65, a beaded wristband; for a pledge of $75, a unisex Kinte hairband; for a pledge of $100, a Ghana cap; for a pledge of $150, a Ghana soccer shirt; for a pledge of $500, an embroidered shirt; for a pledge of $1,000, a wooden elephant; for a pledge of $2,000, a large drum; for a pledge of $3,000, a carved African warrior; for a pledge of $5,000, a framed picture; and for a pledge of $35,000, the donor’s name is engraved on site.
