15 Oct, 2015 – On October 17, 2015, Environmental Sculptures in partnership with the City of North Myrtle Beach we will be hosting the first annual GOGO FEST at the North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex. The first question you may have is, what is GOGO FEST? GOGO FEST is short for GET OFFLINE and GO OUTSIDE. Simply put, it is a day to celebrate everything outdoors and all that nature has to offer and inspire our imaginations. The GOGO Fest is an annual celebration of outdoor involvement for children and adults. We feel the importance of encouraging our children’s interaction and appreciation for nature, versus the overwhelming dependency on electronic, computers, and technology. Nature is fundamental to our development as people and embellishes our quality of life.
Geared towards children and young families, the GOGO FEST will include games, inspirational speakers talking about nature, interactive presentations, food, and more. We have raised small sponsorships to help with the cost of hosting our event, for our performers, guest presenters, equipment, and other necessary expenses for GOGO FEST, however most of this was done on our own, as a treat for the community. This is even more special in light of the recent disaster our community has faced. Our event’s mission is to appreciate our environment. We hope to raise awareness and inspire action. This is a chance to show our kids another way of life and teach them to protect their environment.
There is no admission fee to the Festival and performances and are free as well. There will be several professional groups such as Cisco, Birds of Prey, Doug Elliott-naturalist, and local celebrity performances. There will be dance performances from NMB elementary school children as well as from the Academy of Dance and Fine Arts, and more! There will be some food vendors as well as “sustainability/environmental” vendors that that will displaying and may be selling their work; however, this is a nonprofit event.
