Paul Schuder, Owner of PCS Bail Bonds, says that Kelly was a force in the Fort Worth legal community for a long time.

“He worked within the Fort Worth community for decades,” Schuder explains. “His presence was widely felt by many people both inside and outside of the legal community and for a good reason. Dee Kelly was great at what he did and accomplished a lot in his years as an attorney in Fort Worth and through Texas.”

Friends and family only had kind words for Kelly at his memorial service—held Wednesday October 7 at University Christian Church in Fort Worth.

Dee Kelly Jr. said his father was “bigger than life,” and state representative Charlie Green said “Dee was a giant for Fort Worth. He was a counselor to politicians and all of the influential people…He was a great man.”

Kelly was known for working with several high profile clients over the course of his career, including the Moncriefs, the Bass family and AMR Corp. (the parent company of American Airlines).

“It’s rare for you to find someone who is able to work with big clients while still being able to maintain a high level of integrity,” Schuder continues. “Dee was able to do both instinctively which is part of what has made him such a memorable and influential figure in Fort Worth.”

Tarrant County Judge Glenn Whitley reminisces that Kelly “was one of those men in town who found ways to bring people together and make things work.”

Kelly graduated from Texas Christian University in 1950 before becoming a founding partner of Kelly Hart & Hallman—the largest law firm in Fort Worth that boasts former appeals court judges and state district judges.

“We at PCS Bail Bonds feel like we’ve been in the business for a long time—and it’s just been over 20 years,” concludes Schuder. “So it’s amazing to see all that Dee has accomplished for Fort Worth, and all of Texas, over the past few decades.”
