Sexual Assault Attorneys File Multiple Lawsuits Against Massage Envy

January 12, 2016 – – AbuseGuardian.com reports on the growing number of lawsuits filed against the Arizona head-quartered franchise, Massage Envy. The cases are quite similar in that many of them allege that Massage Envy was negligent in the hiring of massage therapists who sexually assaulted female clients, and made an effort to cover up the complaints.

Several court documents state that there are “more than 50 allegations of sexual assaults by Massage Envy therapists occurring in approximately fifteen different states.” Many complaints also state that it is believed that Massage Envy’s company protocol encourages employees to handle sexual assault complaints “in-house” and does not require documentation for any sexual misconduct. Due to these allegations many believe that multiple female clients of Massage Envy have been sexually assaulted, when these instances could have been prevented had the correct measures been taken upon the initial complaints being made.

It is important to note that in some cases the perpetrators of the sexual acts have been arrested and charged for their alleged crimes. The lawsuits that are being filed against the Massage Envy franchise are for alleged negligence in hiring therapists that put their clients at risk of assault by not completing proper background checks on their employees, not reporting sexual assault complaints, recommending therapists that already had complaints against them to female clients, failing to notify the Board of Health on specific therapists with complaints against them, and much more. These plaintiffs are all seeking compensation for their losses in civil cases.

Many of the plaintiffs in these cases suffered and continue to suffer from emotional distress, anxiety, panic attacks, fear of being alone, inability to function at work or school, and much more. The effects can be devastating and long lasting for victims, and cause a tremendous financial strain.

Attorney Brian Kent of Laffey Bucci Kent, the firm behind AbuseGuardian.com understands the serious and sensative nature of these cases and comments: “ We currently have multiple clients who we are representing in Massage Envy sexual assault claims, and we believe that anyone that allows such abuse to occur needs to be held accountable.”
