Sandy Utah Martial Artists Work Together to Provide Christmas Toys for Less Fortunate Children in Their Community
From November 23rd through December 16th the students and families of Personal Mastery Martial Arts in Sandy, UT worked hard to raise over $2,000 worth of new toys for less fortunate children in their community.
The students and families of Personal Mastery Martial Arts are very proud of this long-standing tradition in their martial arts school to give back to the community.
The donations were distributed to several organizations who had families in need. These organizations included, but were not limited to, the Sandy City Police K9 unit toy drive, Ridgecrest Elementary school, and private families who would otherwise not have had a Christmas.
Personal Mastery divided their student body into 4 teams in an attempt to create some healthy and friendly competition between the students. The teams were all named after popular holiday themes: Team Elsa, Team Abominable Snowman, Team Rudolph, and Team Whoville. The winning team that brought in the most toys was Team Elsa who brought in $595 worth of toys.
The winners from Team Elsa were: Kim Hill and Marissa Hill (team captains), Rowan Anderson, Cameron Bartee, Atticus Benson, Annor Benson, Jo Bryant, Sam Bryant, Luke Davis, Tyler Dixon, Lauren Ellis, Calvin Fairbanks, Josh Gardner, Chris Hill, Josh Hill, Isabel Lane, Kira Lane, Nathan Lane, Susan Lane, Adam Lober, Katie Lowe, Kamden Main, Jada Oyler, Abigail Reyes, Rajit Sen, Eve Smith, and Korban Zyp.
For winning the head-to-head competition the team members will gather for a donut party sponsored by Personal Mastery Martial Arts.
Teresa Lechtenberg, owner of Personal Mastery Martial Arts said, “This is a very special annual competition for our students. Every year they work hard to live the qualities of black belt excellence, one of which is charity. I am very proud of all the students and their families for raising toys for others.”
“We are very grateful for the donation of toys from the students and families of Personal Mastery. We seemed to have a lot of need in our community this year and the toy donation was a great help to many families,” said Julia Winfree, principal of Ridgecrest Elementary.
Personal Mastery plans to carry on the 12 year tradition next Christmas and already has the toy drive on the calendar, with a goal of $3,000 in toys.
