A Short History of the Creation of A Void Matter:

The idea for creating A Void Matter came about after it was decided that CONNECT 2 students needed to stage a performance on 26th May 2018 in JSS Auditorium at 7:00 in the evening.

A Void Matter has been in development for one month and had a team of 25 dancers working on it under the supervision of the Creative Director Sahiba Singh who also choreographed the production. Such a large number is considered humongous by industry standards. This goes to show that it takes more than a few great minds and a few great dancing bodies to pull something great together.

The Contemporary Dance Performance almost didn’t see the light of day, when the central character and the main dancer met with an accident. The problem was overcome by the grace of God since the accident was not very severe and the dancer got well just in two short days.

Meeraqi has done something different compared to other businesses in the contemporary dance space, by arranging the show in JSS Auditorium with a huge stage at the disposal of dancers more than 25 in number. .

A Void Matter will be released as part of Meeraqi’s greater plans to instill a sense of confidence and jubilation in the students who would be performing on stage for the first time in their life .With arranging JSS Auditorium, this goal already seems to have been achieved.

A Void Matter got started when the Creative Director at Meeraqi, Sahiba Singh noticed a growing need for showcasing the skills that the CONNECT 2 students had learned during the last 4.5 months. With 10 years prior experience in the contemporary dance world, Sahiba Singh decided to go ahead and start rehearsals.

Sahiba Singh is quoted saying: “We like to do things to connect with our students and clints. Things like keeping active on social media and publishing regular newsletter, as well as releasing these little factoids ahead of the A Void Matter launch are what make a difference.”
