When thinking of vinyl records, many people will imagine black disks in dusty cardboard sleeves from decades past. Up until very recently, demand for these analog mediums was dwindling with digital music becoming so popular.

However, as a spokesperson for APR noted, demand for records has tripled in over the last five years, putting high pressure on limited record manufacturers.

“It takes about 4-6 months on average for releases to be completed, but our new APR pressing plant is aiming to reduce production times and meet some of these demands,” the spokesperson said, adding that Actually Pressing Records will be utilizing brand new, fully automated record presses to start providing 12″ LPs and 7″ records that look great and sound amazing.

APR will be staying true to the methods of vinyl pressing, using high quality virgin PVC manufactured in the United States and packaged in beautifully printed jackets by the best printers on the west coast.

The Seattle-based company is also aiming to keep everything as local as possible to maintain quality and reduce turnaround times. With vinyl making its comeback, these new machines will get music lovers their favorite albums in a format that provides rich and wonderful sounds without frequent production pauses for repairs.

In order to help pay for the variety of equipment that will be needed to press records at APR, Whitlock recently launched a fundraiser on Kickstarter. He and his team hope to raise $47,000 through crowdfunding to help get his new business off the ground as soon as possible.

“The presses are not inexpensive and while we wait on the banks for the loan we need your help to finish getting this endeavor ready for business,” Whitlock said.
