Adventure Park at Heritage Museums & Gardens Zips into Spring 2017, Opening April 13 — Featuring aerial trails, interpretive paths, special events, and more

April 13, 2017 – The Adventure Park at Heritage Museums & Gardens, the popular outdoor discovery, zip line and climbing venue located in Sandwich, Massachusetts, opens for its 2017 season on Thursday, April 13 at 1:00 PM.

Located on four wooded acres, the focus at The Adventure Park at Heritage is on outdoor family fun, discovery, and exploration. Five aerial “trails” of varying challenge-beginner through expert-treat climbers to an immersion in the tree canopy and provide unparalleled views of Heritage’s natural environs.

The Adventure Park is not one single aerial treetop trail but a variety of different, color-coded aerial trails of differing challenge levels—beginner through expert—that climbers choose from depending on their age or climbing experience. These trails consist of platforms installed in the trees and connected by various configurations of cable, wood, and rope to form “crossings” of different kinds including the ever-popular zip lines. Climbers wear harnesses which are doubly secured to safety cables using the Park’s “always locked on” system of interlocking safety clips. Before venturing onto the trails climbers receive an interactive orientation and practice session.

As always, The Adventure Park features its special combination experience of zip lines mixed with challenge bridges between the trees that keeps people coming back for more. The park’s friendly staff is available to answer questions and assist from the moment visitors arrive to the moment they conclude their climb and return home with satisfied “I did it!” smiles.

Interpretive paths on the ground guide visitors through the landscape to experience the beauty of Heritage’s world-renowned Dexter rhododendrons and learn about forest ecosystems. School field trips are offered throughout the season for students in Grades 6-8. In addition, Adventure Park/Heritage combo tickets provide visitors with a full day of activities at Heritage that includes a climb as well as the opportunity to explore the main museum grounds and galleries, which include 100 acres of magnificent gardens, woodlands, and nature trails; three exhibit galleries featuring American art and gems of the automotive world; rides on a vintage carousel; and more.

Throughout The Adventure Park at Heritage season (April 14-November 12), climbers will enjoy an expanded Special Events schedule, with prizes, discounts, and special activities. In August there will be a school supplies drive, and in October a canned food drive, to benefit families in need in the local community.

The Adventure Park at Heritage Museums & Gardens is designed, built and operated by Outdoor Ventures in partnership with Heritage. All climbs are by reservation only.
