After DA Requests Strict Sentencing In Construction Death, Personal Injury Lawyer Comments

July 18, 2016 – – LipsigLawyers.com’s Thomas Moverman commented last month on the District Attorney’s move to request strict sentencing for a New York construction company after one of the company’s workers was killed. Moverman said the request is not unreasonable and that construction companies should be held accountable when workers are killed or injured because of unnecessary shortcomings.

The Real Deal stated in a report early last month that 22 groups, which include Manhattan D.A. Cyrus Vance and the Building Trades union, are asking a New York judge for the maximum sentence to Harco Construction on charges related to a construction worker’s death last year at a Meatpacking District work site.

More than 20 percent of all work-related fatalities in 2013 were employed in the construction industry and one in five of the 4,821 reported fatalities in 2014 were also in the construction industry, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Injuries such as lacerations, bruising, broken or fractured bones and sometimes spinal or brain injuries can often be a result of these accidents as well.

Lipsig, Shapey, Manus & Moverman has been representing victims of construction accidents for years. They have successfully obtained millions in settlements for those victims and strongly believe in fighting for the compensation victims need and deserve. In one case, Attorney Thomas Moverman won a victim $2.6 million for a worker who injured his knee and back in a fall from defective scaffolding.

“My clients’ lives and families are the most important aspect of what I do. I hope the lawsuits that I bring and the results I obtain will allow them to try to restore themselves both physically and personally,” said Moverman of the firm’s efforts.

The firm is currently looking to assist those individuals who have been injured in a construction accident.Certain individuals may be entitled to significant financial compensation.
