Agein.com, the Internet’s premier anti-aging web site focusing on anti-aging tips, news, and advice from some of the foremost experts in the industry, is weighing in on a recent study that explains why the skin wrinkles more on various parts of the face.
A new study conducted by scientists at Kagoshima University and the Jichi Medical University in Japan looked at the relationship between facial wrinkles and the structure of the skin in an effort to determine why winkles look different on various parts of the face. Study authors discovered that the skin on the forehead has shallower wrinkles due to the higher number of oil glands. Winkles around the eyes tend to be deeper because that region doesn’t have oil glands. “Age plays a big part in how winkles form, because our oil-secreting glands produce less oil as we get older. That might explain why we have shallow winkles on our foreheads and deeper crow’s feet around the eyes,” says Dr. Kevin McLaughlin, Agein.com’s anti-aging expert. “That is why it’s important to find anti-aging products that keep the skin on the face properly moisturized.”
Dr. McLaughlin explains that wrinkles may be unavoidable, but there are a number of ways to promote healthy, younger-looking skin. Three easy methods include exercising, getting enough sleep, and not smoking. It’s also important to have a regular daily skin care regimen, notes Dr. McLaughlin. That means cleansing the face twice a day: once in the morning and again in the evening.
When considering what kind of anti-aging products to use, Dr. McLaughlin suggests that serums are a good alternative to moisturizers, mainly because they include nourishing ingredients that can help moisturize the skin.
“To help improve skin tone, improve the appearance of deep wrinkles, and reduce fine lines around the eyes, look for anti-aging serums that include Argireline?, Matrixyl™ Synthe‘6, and Alpine Rose Stem Cell Extract,” says Dr. McLaughlin. “Argireline?, often referred to as ‘nature’s wrinkle filler’ is a well-documented peptide that works specifically on expression wrinkles on the face by safely relaxing the facial muscles and reducing the depth of crow’s feet and lines on the forehead.”
Dr. McLaughlin concludes, “Alpine rose stem cell technology has been shown to improve overall skin tone and keep skin moisturized, soft, and supple. While Matrixyl™ Synthe‘6, is a peptide complex that helps fight the look of wrinkles by nourishing targeted areas.”
